Teridian Reduces Development Time with Its 73S1210F Smart Card Reader IC for Gas Meter Prepayment Module

IRVINE, Calif.--(www.AllPayNews.com)--Teridian Semiconductor today announced Manas Metering Systems, a leading supplier of utility meters and smart card-based payment and prepayment systems, has selected the Teridian 73S1210F smart card reader integrated circuit for its new prepayment add-on module “G4” unit, usable in conjunction with a wide range of utility meters. The Manas G4 prepayment module is approved for use with EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) international payment smart cards and is compatible with their “Payflex Smart-Card Token” prepayment solution. Manas has completed the first stage prepayment meter deployment of IGDAS (Gas Distribution Company of Istanbul), which is one of the largest gas distribution companies in Europe with 3.5 million existing customers.

Teridian’s 73S1210F smart card reader IC is supplied with EMV 4.1 level 1 and ISO7816 compliant “Pseudo-CCID” software delivering system developers a turnkey smart card reader solution with advanced capabilities including accelerated system level EMV approval, lockable on-chip Flash memory, and “in the field” firmware upgrades under host processor supervision.

Teridian’s 73S12XX family of smart card reader ICs, including 73S1210F, are available in production volumes now and pricing is available upon request. A 73S1210F development board is also available, pre-loaded with Teridian’s “Pseudo-CCID” software stack. It can be used immediately as a self-contained smart card reader, controllable through a versatile asynchronous serial interface. It is delivered with a Windows XP™ application that is a user-friendly exerciser and allows the control of the smart card (activation, deactivation & APDU exchange) in both ISO7816 and EMV modes.
